BIOGRAPHY

I was born in Montreal by a French Canadian mother and an Italian father. I was fortunate as a teenager in Rome, while in high school, to attend weekend art classes conducted by a well-known artist and teacher, A Petrucci.

1948

Back in Montreal I was admitted at L'ecole de Beaux Arts by A. Lismer, the artist and teacher every art student admired. Others, such as Reinblatt, Cosgrove, Jacques de Tonnancour and sculptor Mlle. Nolin, were instrumental in helping me develop my own style.

1950

I returned to Rome where I had my first solo exhibition at the Galleria Giosi in Via del Babbuino. Giorgio de Chirico, the world famous artist, spoke to me in very encouraging words and signed my guestbook, a souvenir that I will cherish forever.

1965

While in Montreal, I contacted Moe Reinblatt and drew on his expertise to help me choose from my collection of oils and pastels to be exhibited at the Manoir Notre Dame de Grace.

An interval of three years, during which I lived in Havana and Santiago de Cuba, further enlarged my love of colours and gave me an even stronger feeling of space and shapes. I believe it is all reflected in the dynamic quality some people see in my work.

I obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from York University in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and subsequently went back to my work with an added dimension: clay sculpture.

1990

I showed some paintings in the Yorkville Library, in Toronto, in preparation for a solo exhibition to be held in Rome.

With the collaboration and support of the Canadian Cultural Centre in Rome, I showed twenty oils and pastels in the Galleria Il Saggiatore in Via Margutta, the street in the center of the city where artists, artisans, art critics and writers live and work.

The same year I drove south to Lecce, in Puglia, a smaller baroque city and held a solo exhibition sponsored by the city.

Back to Il Saggiatore where I participated in an interesting group show featuring oil miniatures.

Since 1993...

I returned to the Toronto area and I have had group and personal exhibitions in different locations in the area, including Oakville and Mississauga.

2005

My first exhibition in Brampton. An exhibition was held in the Whitney Gallery of the Peel Heritage Centre. Thirty-five pieces were displayed.

Today

I live and work in Brampton, Ontario where I have my studio.
